BEAUTYCON LONDON 2017
I visited Beautycon London over the weekend so I thought I'd share it with you guys since it was my first time. Can I just say, I was so excited about Beautycon that I googled last years' event just so I could read reviews from others, watch videos and really have a glimpse of what I might expect this year. Can you tell that I didn't want to leave the element of surprise out in the open? Ha!
This years Beautycon event was on 2nd December in Olympia London, and I think this has been the venue for the past few years (or it definitely was last year anyway). Olympia London houses many events every year so overall I thought knew this would be a great place to a host this event. Luckily, the overground was running from Shepherds Bush so I was able to park at Westfield and hop right on the train straight there (and only one stop thank god).
As soon as I touched down at the venue I couldn't believe the how crazy the queues were. I bought the (£30) general admission ticket which allowed us access to the venue at 12.00pm. The social and hauler packages allowed earlier access at 11am, but for the sake of an hour, I really didn't feel like it was worth it; plus there is a HUGE difference in price (£100 and £120). Luckily, my fellow friend and blogger Vanessa was already in the queue so I was able to join the queue with her.
As soon as I got inside I was pretty excited by the balloons & lifesize makeup decor (obvs). It doesn't take much to make me happy- good decor and makeup is a great start!
Each brand had their own pop up booths which were generally decorated quite well- my fave being the Limecrime and Pop Beauty pop ups because they were full of colour and just oozing personality.
I must say, even though the branding on each brand booth were mainly quite pretty and eye catching, the overall decoration throughout the event was quite poor. I guess most people won't care since they are more interested in makeup, but there really is something about shopping/ attending events in a well decorated environment that adds to the overall vibe for me... I can't say I was impressed.
I also felt a bit like the floor layout wasn't well executed because the long queues for each brand meant that the flow was quite poor and meant people pushing past each other etc. I learned that you can't always expect people to have good queue etiquette or just general manners, but you can sure as hell remind them to; after all, it's just an event, it's really not that deep. (And if it is for you, it really shouldn't be).
MY BEAUTYCON EXPERIENCE IN PICTURES
There were so many brands there on the day; some very popular, and others trying to get established which I thought was a really nice touch. I've summarised some of the favourite brands I visited below.
Ness and I decided to visit Limecrime first as we knew the queues would be crazy later in the day- we were right! Everyone I know goes on about how amazing Limecrime products were, and because I had never tried them I was totally curious to see what all the fuss was about.
As soon as I saw their liquid lipsticks I fell in love. I imagine this is how all the Kylie Jenner fans feel when they manage to bag themselves one of her new lipkits, because I just knew that I didn't want to leave without atleast one lipstick. After swatching a few, I decided to go with one of the liquid lipsticks in shade SASHA. I was also loving up the Limecrime branded bags which they gave me even though it was 4000% bigger than the product I'd bought? Not complaining AT ALL!
Before I even get into feeding back on this brand (which by the way is a Pixi Beauty sister company), I have to tell you how lovely the ladies were on the stall. From the very moment I got there, I had their full attention and they were really enthusiastic about talking me through the products that I showed interest in... I promise you that their energy influenced my decision to buy some of the products (other than the fact that they look amazing).
I'd heard of Pop Beauty prior to visiting Beautycon, but had never tried them. The fact that they were offering a buy 2 get 1 free deal and a giveaway was a bonus to be honest. I ended up buying the 24k Face base (primer) and a lip pencil in shade KINKY PINK, with the free gift being the POW WOW powder palette worth £26- WINNING IN LIFE.
I was then told that if I took a selfie using their fabulous ring light, I could get 2 further products free... who was I to argue with a freebie? NOONE, that's who! After taking my selfie, I was gifted the KOJOL PEN eyeliner and MY ONE LINER liquid liner. I haven't used any of the products as yet but I'll let you guys know how I get on with them. If they are amazing I am sure that they will be featured on the site or the gram at some point.

I didn't get to visit some of the brands that I really wanted to get to, such as; Nyx, Superdrug, and Makeup Revolution because the queues were just too long and after a very long time of standing around (in heels might I add) and no place to sit down, I lost my enthusiasm very quickly. Plus, all that queuing and standing and walking built up an appetite and my girlies and I were totally up for a cheeky Pizza Express; they had one inside the venue and it beat the £8.00 burger and chips deals that they were doing in one of the 2 other food vendors in the venue.
Btw, just a small note to add that Pizza Express initially told us that we would have a 50 minute waiting time before we'd be seated, let alone served. This made us really sad. I don't like to rant or be a debbie downer, but how on earth are you short staffed on the day of a HUGE event? We turned away, managed to find somewhere to pitch for a while and then came back with our tails between our legs as by that time we were ABSOLUTELY starving! I enjoyed my Leggera American Hot nonetheless.
MY OVERALL THOUGHTS ABOUT BEAUTYCON LONDON 2017
Although I had so much fun seeing part of the #GIRLGANG, I have to be honest with you guys... I haven't felt this disappointed in an event in a very long time. I hate to draw on the negative aspects of things, but I need to keep it real for those of you who are considering attending next year or those want to know what they missed out on... absolutely nothing.
I mean, if you're looking for an afternoon of shopping, in a place with long queues, waiting ages to eat and the possibility of maybe being able to grab a seat to listen in to one of the panel discussions, this is all you! I need to add that there weren't even chairs to just sit yo' a** down for a minute.
For someone like me who has high expectations about not only the decor, but just making sure that every person granted access to the event is treated like a VIP and has an amazing experience, this is probably not going to be your cup of tea (hence why you probably drink coffee...also like me).
I am honestly still quite sad about this and I hope that the Beautycon team see this feedback and really take it into consideration when planning next years event.
The positives were that I got to meet up with my gorgeous girls and bag a few treats that I am really looking forward to trying. As always though, my advice will always be to try something yourself before making a final decision on it. I probably won't attend next year but that certainly shouldn't stop you from going!
