MY HALLOWEEN 2018: CRAFTING WITH THE LONDON CRAFT CLUB & MY HALLOWEEN LOOK
As a child, if it weren’t for the dressing up and candy I’d probably never have bothered with Halloween; and to be fair, my attitude hasn’t changed much about this over the years. Yeah, I guess I cut the “Trick or Treating” out because I just can’t seem to pull it off anymore.. I’m too old now… APPARENTLY. Anyway, resent aside, this year was the first time in years that I’ve made any effort on Halloween, and that’s probably down to The London Craft Club for getting me in the spirit by inviting me to their Influencer crafting event; and Alisha for throwing a little Halloween shindig the other week.
I’ve been following the LCC on social media for a while now, and I’ve always been interested in getting involved in some of their craft workshops. But as usual, time is a major factor in how long it takes me to actually get around to doing things I love (or actually want to do). That’s why I was super happy to be invited to their Halloween crafting event last Thursday, where I got to have a nosey around their new permanent home and create a cute little Halloween Flower Crown… my inner creative was BURSTING to come out.
For those of you who don’t know, the London Craft Club is a Craft Club in London. LOL… talk about state the obvious. Sorry, I’m a keen sarcastic. Anyway, the Craft Club runs various workshops across loads of different themes, types, skills etc. and they have such a wide range of things that you can do regardless of whether you’re a first timer or a frequent crafter. They provide everything you need on the day and at the end of your session you leave with your beautiful little creation, and if you’re anything like me, feeling like a total genius.
Anyway, I was invited to their Halloween event alongside some other lovely bloggers who are also interested in the Arts & Crafts sphere to have a little tour of their new creative space and to get our crafting hands on and make a flower crown.
I absolutely love their space and the way the decorated it for Halloween…so cute!
Note: please excuse the quality of some of the images as I took them on my phone without the flash :)
And how cute is this DIY Terrazzo wall? I mean, C’mon guys…you’re showing us up here.
After a few glasses of ‘Secco and some spooky snacks, we were ready to get straight into making our crowns. At this point I had no idea what the hell I was going to make… but I usually just glance over any materials I have and then start piecing things together. I’m the kind of person that will lay everything out in front of me to get a craft “template”, before I start going in and cutting/ sticking/ moulding etc and this is such an important part of the process for me lol.
Once I had a proper Idea of what I was doing, I started going in with my super sleek (and cordless might I add) glue gun.
And after a heavy session of cutting, reshaping and glueing, I gave birth to this bad boy…
I LOVE IT! and it is going to stay in my collection of spooky things for next Halloween since I didn’t manage to wear it this year. Mainly because it didn’t fit with this years’ Halloween identity (which I am going to show you in a hot sec).
Thank you, thank you, thank you to the lovely ladies at the Craft Club for such a wonderful evening, and to the sweeties who joined me because we had some LIT conversations about high school days and Netflix lol. And for anyone thinking about getting in a crafting session before Christmas, I am likely to attend the Christmas Crackers Workshop on 26th November. The session is £25 and involves making as as you possibly can within the two hour window. Exciting!
My mood for Halloween 2018:
SAPHLON DON (aka SteffLon Don)
So I was deciding who I wanted to be for Halloween this year because we’d originally booked to go to a Halloween Warehouse party but it cancelled, which led to my friend organising her own little Halloween party.
I realised that I didn’t want to be anyone/thing spooky, but wanted to be go as someone who I dig, that is sexy, real and whose personality is a whole vibe… which ended up being…
STEFF LON DON
For those who don’t know who she is, she’s a rapper/ singer here in the UK and I absolutely love her vibe! Most known for her hit with French Montana “Hurtin Me” and more recent mixtape “SECURE”, I think Steff is really doing a lot for UK music and I love to support Artists that our from my place of Birth… seeing as I am always listening to music from Artists in the US.
I wanted to go for the bright under eye, long haired, colourful look which I would say is her signature style, and this is how it came out…
Steff actually posted my pics on her instagram and twitter page… WOOO- I’ve made it! Lol. All in all, I had so much fun dressing up all colourful and wild… and as for my hair… A BIG FAT YES from me.
I have no idea who I’m going to be next year but this was a whole look and I got so much positive feedback about keeping my hair pink lol…sad times.
Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween? Who did you dress up as?
