HELLO APRIL! AN IDEA FOR YOUR NEXT SQUAD LINK UP, A NOSEY AT MY NEW HAIR AND A GLANCE INTO THE COMING MONTHS.
The beginning of April has been good to me in many ways, because I've managed to refuel after a wonderful, busy and entertaining week off work and also feel like there's a little more Spring here in London.
Gosh, the saying really is true; "time flies when you're having fun". I cannot actually believe we've made it to month 4 of 2018... in one way it's good thing because it reminds me of everything I want to conquer this year, and just how quickly time will pass me if I don't make sure I stay on track. You may remember me talking about some of my goals a few weeks back, and boy do I want to stick to them. The days of me taking life easy are well and truly over.
Anyway, I thought I'd share a little update of what I've been getting up to, and just a few of my plans for the next few months so that you know what to look forward to!
So, last week I took some time off work for a stay-cation and I really did have a great week. I tend to take a week off around March/ April to have a good spring clean around the house to really bring some fresh energy into my home. I was also due a good clear out of all the things that no longer serve their purpose so the timing was perfect. It's so nice sometimes to make sure you're getting enough "you (me) time" and remind yourself that you are in fact still a person outside of work (I'll be talking about this and getting a good work/life balance very soon).
SO WHAT DID I GET UP TO DURING MY WEEK OFF?
Well for starters, I started my week by getting my hair did (YASSSS!). If you follow me on insta you'll know that I am going through the lightening process which takes place across a few sessions to avoid damaging the hair as much as possible. I must admit, initially I left the hairdressers thinking "what the actual fxck have I done". But after walking past a few shop windows, a few mirrors and then getting the odd look from a few randoms, I realised that I AM ON FIRE! Lol. I took 3 inches off the overall length and got some layers chopped in to give my face a bit of shape, and then got highlights done at the same time.
This is what my hair looked like before:
And this is how ya girl is looking now:
Even though i'm still going to go back in a few weeks for a Balayage and trim, I am actually quite liking it how it is at the moment and it's definitely looking more healthy than it has previously.
Tip: If you have curly hair, make sure the hairdresser cuts your hair when it's dry so that you can see the shrinkage/ realistic length and not end up leaving the salon with the 'can I speak to your manager' hair cut.
I got mine done at Rush Hair Salon and paid £120 for a full wash, cut, style and highlights (which is such a great price btw).
Aside getting my hair cut, I also went to Flipout for the first time and I can actually say... it is THE SHIT! If you don't know what Flipout is, it's basically a massive arena of bouncy goodness, stunt box/ ball games and even has a little lazer mission area too. It's flipping brilliant (pun intended), and I literally cannot explain to you the amount of fun and laughter I had on this one day alone- shouts to my best friend (and my grandson who isn't my grandson, but is my grandson) for making this day what it was! I'm legit considering hiring the venue for my next birthday (which is in October if you'd like to donate some funds towards the £3000 venue hire charge lol).
Looking for your next squad outing? Flipout is the one for you guys, I'm telling you. It's good for people of all ages so you can take the kids if you can't get a sitter and is also a healthy way to have fun... like, I can't even explain to you how out of breathe I was bouncing around for all that time, but did I care? NAHHHHHHH.
Here's a little look at me and my bestie being flipping FABULOUS at the Brent Cross location:
We even had a cheeky Wagamama at the Brent Cross Shopping Centre after...
I just drooled looking at that picture... story of my life.
Anyway, another exciting thing that I am taking part in this month which you may have already seen over on my instagram is the #MyHouseThisMonth challenge. The My House This Month challenge originates from the MHTM instagram page, and is a great way of meeting other home and interiors enthusiasts like us, but also has great prizes/ rewards if you are announced as the winner.
This is my first time taking part in the MHTM challenge and I am really excited to be a part of a new community of people sharing beautiful aesthetics, homewares and design, and they really do make you feel so welcome.
I would literally love it if you could follow this journey with me by visiting my insta page and letting me know which of my MHTM posts you love by liking and commenting on them. To give you a little glance into what to expect from the April challenge, I am sharing the challenge information below with the posts I've already done.
Are you taking part? Let me know what your instagram is so that I can follow you and take a look at your MHTM inspo!
GUESS WHAT ELSE I AM ALSO WORKING ON?
My garden has been a hot mess for a minute, and I actually cannot take it any longer... I mean, look at this:
I've decided to put the rest of the home projects on hold so that I can get my garden ready for the summer period (and prior to having another cold and muddy winter with muddy paws trailing throughout the house). Let me tell you, there is nothing more calming than the fact that I've made this decision and in a few weeks, I will finally have the patio area that I have always wanted.
I am currently pulling together my project plan for the works, and hope for them to be completed just in time for the beginning of summer. But to have an idea of what I am hoping to achieve (within a small budget too), have a butchers at these gorge pics (Pinterest inspo of course)...
So I am hoping for my paving to look something like this:
But want my garden to have a small flowerbed area too...
For the overall garden theme, I am either going to go for a modern mix of Arabian Nights...
or something modern and nature-y like this...
Once my plans are ready I'll be sharing them here on the blog so keep an eye out for them! Do you need some help planning your next design project? I am now available to offer a limited number of free design consultations which involves assisting with and planning your next home design project, including vision boards, budget planning, advice and more. You can get in contact with me here to let me know what you need.
Wishing you the spring-iest spring and all the best for your April goals!
