TROPICAL GLAM BATHROOM UPGRADE PLANS
I’ve always been a fan of tropical botanic themes for the bathroom so it will be no surprise that the overall theme for my bathroom upgrade is still the same. But I am so ready to get creative with a splash of colour, and I plan to throw it back to something similar to the 2016 Colour of the Year; Blush.
Ever the sucker for a Pinterest moodboard, I decided my first port of call (as usual) would be to start collecting some inspiration of the bathroom aesthetic that I could see in my mind’s eye, and I really wasn’t disappointed.
The peach colour featured on the walls of this gorgeous bathroom designed by Bergman & Co is beautifully offset against those pink basins and terrazzo unit.
Elsie’s guest bathroom features the winning blush & gold combination and I’ve always intended on using gold fixings in my own bathroom. Love the detail here.
I’ve taken my floor inspiration from Bradley VanDerStraeten’s bathroom design in a Leytonstone House led by Claire Holton.
How beauts is this pink leaf print wallpaper by Woodchip and Magnolia. This image was one of the major determining factors of my final colour palette for the bathroom. It also reinforced how great gold accents are in bringing the glam element into the bathroom.
Colour Palette
Once I had a faint idea of the type of design/ theme I want for the bathroom I was able to have a look at different hues of peachy/blush colours and looking at the kinds of pattern/ texture i’d like to see embedded too.
Here’s a look at some of the options I explored…
Colours 3, 8 and 12 in the colour chart above are the shades I’ve had a hard time choosing between, but I’m going to opt for more of a softer peach shade, like pictured in this gorgeous bathroom to the right.
But before I make my final decision I think I’ll test a few shades of peach & blush on the walls and see how they dry. I’ll also match them up the tile samples to see which of the combinations work best together.
The use of marble in this bathroom also prompted my thoughts about the tile finish I want for the wall tiles.
An avid fan of the terrazzo trend found me searching for some floor tile inspiration with the renowned finish in mind.
I love this combination used on floors throughout the Paradiso Cafe.

This more neutral terrazzo floor tile by Otto Tiles is closer to what I’d be looking for in my bathroom.
I like the fact that this design has a little twinge of peach in it too.
The Misty Fjord tiles by Topps Tiles caught my eye when looking at Marble tiles but at £80.72 per sqm they were over budget for me.
MOOD BOARD
My fave part about this whole thing has been creating a vision board for my new bathroom because this is a way of seeing my chosen colour choices, patterns and accents etc. come together in one place. It’s basically the foundation (in my opinion) of any interior design/ decorating project that I’m involved with and actually is one of my favourite manifestation techniques. Yep, if I want it, I usually see it and recreate it myself using a moodboard; that way, I make it personal to me and really get my imagination going in the process.
Here is my finished vision board.
As you can see, I plan on accessorising with a pinky colour -cousin of the pale blush tone that I’m likely to go with for the walls, and finishing with gold fixings and accessories. I’ll also be sticking to my botanical theme and throwing in some of these gorgeous banana leaf accessories by Elizabeth Scarlett.
