Does Your Home Feel Like Its Missing Something? Read This!

If you have been looking at your home recently and asking yourself “what’s missing” or “why it doesn’t feel quite right”, then read on for some useful tips that may help you to bring forth some fresh energy and draw out the feelings you wish to manifest from your space. I can’t tell you how many times over the years I’ve suddenly decided that I needed change within my home. This didn’t always mean that the house itself, as I often found that it’s usually the existing rooms needing a few tweaks and upgrades to restore the vibes I am looking for. So the good news is that most of the time, bringing about change in the home isn’t difficult to achieve, and you should be able to do so fairly quickly if you have some extra cash lying around, and a bit of an idea of what needs changing. In this article, we’re going to be taking a look at some of the things that you could do to turn your home into somewhere that works well for you, so keep reading if you too would like to bring about some changes within your special place.

Finding out what works for you in your own home is usually the best place to start - and this can be a bit tricky, when you many ideas that you want to get done in one go. From my perspective, it’s essential that every home has a relaxing, quiet space for you to chill out and unwind. My preference would be fore this to be a completely separate area to where I would normally sit and watch TV for instance. A lot of people decide to put a music room or a meditation room in their homes for the times everyday life gets a bit too much. However, if you don’t have the space available for a separate room then you can turn an existing room into a relaxing haven. Think about colour schemes you could use to help you relax at the end of a hard day, and the types of interiors that would complement the space and atmosphere

Comfortable Vibes

As I mentioned earlier, I like chilled, relaxed vibes in my own home - but appreciate that this isn’t to everyone’s preference. The one thing that most of us tend to agree on is having that comfortability factor within our homes. When you walk through the front door (and particularly after a hard day at work or following an intense gym sesh) you immediately want to feel relaxed; as though you are in your safe space. Look at some of the things you can do to become more comfortable in your own space and make any necessary arrangements to bring about this change that you wish to see. My go to things for bringing comfort to the home are things like candles, diffusers with good quality essential oils and things like blankets for the sofa

Don’t forget that the energy / frequencies within the home is also massively impacted by the people living there. If there is negativity held in the space, this can be felt when you step into the home.

Plenty Of Storage

Also consider whether you have enough storage within your home - as a rule of thumb I like to have space for everything, down to the hoover and the dogs toys and accessories. Investing in enough storage for all of your items also helps to keep the space clutter free - which by the way, can also massively impact the way you feel about your home if not under good control. Of course, this depends on the type of interior aesthetic you’ve chosen for your home too. However, even those with a maximalistic interior will want to ensure that there is enough space in storage to put all of your items. If storage is lacking around the home, it might be time for you to add more cupboards and creative storage options to areas of your home.
Good shelving for those who like to have statement pieces on display is also a great way to build in more storage. Just make sure you look into good quality shelving (e.g industrial shelf brackets) so that you know your shelf can bear the weight of whatever you put on it.

What Interior Style Are You Going For?

I mentioned briefly above that some people like to go for a maximalist or eclectic interior style throughout the home - and on the flipside, others (like myself) prefer a more scaled back and minimal interior. As always, I recommend going with whatever your heart desires. It is your space and should be decorated and styled exactly the way you like, showing a true reflection of your own personality and style! My biggest suggestion to those who prefer to have a cluttered look or more eclectic styling of the home, is to ensure that the space is free from any hazards (as we don’t want anyone getting hurt of course).

Building An Extension

Ok, so this sounds expensive, but bear with me…because it’s also important to mention that if you don’t have enough space in your home, then it’s definitely going to be feeling like it’s not working for you. This makes it the perfect time for you to start considering building an extension. Of course this costs a fair chunk of money so some people might choose to wait and save up for this. Contact a professional and get a few quotes so that you have a good idea of how much this could cost to achieve the space that you need.

Declutter As Much As You Can

When you walk into your home, does it make you feel happy, relaxed, and like you want to be there? My guess is that if you’re reading this article, then you might have answered no to atleast one of these. If this is the case, then discovering how to make the space feel warm and welcoming once again is going to solve most of your problems. However, in my experience, a lot of people aren’t unhappy with their actual space, it’s the contents within it. Having a cluttered home can (and I really believe will always) make your home feel smaller and more closed in; not great if you struggle with enclosed spaces. If you don’t know what to do about this then get a pen and paper together, write down a list of all of the rooms that need to be decluttered and get a little plan of action together. Tackle it one room at a time so it doesn’t feel like a huge job. When you get to each room, sort your items in three piles. These should consist of the stuff you want to keep, throw away, and donate.

Hopefully you have found this article helpful, and now have some options for some of the things that you can do to turn your home into something that works well for you. Simply starting with having a good think about what you really desire from your space is the perfect way to bring about change, before making any decisions. Wishing you the very best of luck with this, and I hope that you manage to transform your space into a place that you adore by the time that you are finished.
