What's Ruining The Look Of Your Garden?

Your garden: the paradise of your dreams or a concrete jungle you don’t have much to do with? Sometimes gardening isn’t for everyone! But either way, it can fit the style of your house as long as you keep it clean and tidy. However, letting our gardens go untouched after the winter months can do more harm than good and could be ruining the aesthetic and functional properties of your beautiful outdoor space. Let’s cover off some of the basics that might have your garden looking less than desired…

Non-sprouted Seedlings

Seedlings that fail to sprout isn’t an uncommon problem. You plant as many as you can, you till the soil beforehand, you water whenever possible, and still nothing happens. And then you’re just left with empty, soily spaces in your lawn or the rock garden you’ve lined your tree bases with, and it doesn't look good.

Why is this happening though? What stops a seed from germinating and becoming a member of the blooming garden you’re cultivating? It could be down to a number of things. Mostly, seeds that haven’t sprouted are a result of being planted at the wrong time. As such, it might take a while for them to actually sprout up! So in the meantime, it’s best to dig them up and replace them with something easier to grow

No Space for Socialising

Your garden isn't just a place to grow some plants and let the insects in, although those are both noble pursuits for an outdoor space. It should also be an area you’re happy to spend time in, as well as have some room to spend time in! So when you’re designing your garden, don’t forget to create a lovely patio or decking area to sit and socialise on.

Pick your spot wisely. You need to have plenty of sun exposure available, but also room to put up an awning or gazebo for some shade. And don’t just place some chairs out; try to pair them with a table for alfresco dining as well. You could also squeeze a BBQ or pizza oven in here as well, but it all depends on the budget you’re working with.

Look Up!

The garden isn’t just what we can see in front of us. It isn’t just the lawn or the patio, or the trees and bushes that line the back fence. It’s the whole experience of being outside on your property. And that means you need to look up from time to time!

This is where you bring in services like Gutter Cleaning to get rid of the overflow of rotten leaves hanging around your roof, as well as the moss and ivy creeping all over the dirty brick. But if you don’t look up, you’re not even going to know these problems are there! Invest in a safe and stable ladder, get up the wall with a hose, or call in someone who can do it all for you.

Keep an eye out for problem spots like those above and you’ll be well on your way to a beautiful and comforting outdoor space that’s fit for purpose.
