How To Make Renting Worth The Money

In most cases, renting a property is just not worth the money. Essentially, you’re paying off someone else’s mortgage, but without the benefit of owning the property in the end, or even being able to make adaptations to suit in some cases. As such, you’re still at the peril of the landlord who will control pretty much everything you can do with the place.

This begs the question, can renting ever be worth it? Well, in some cases, it can be! The trick is learning how to make this experience more worthwhile for you - and here’s my advice about what you can do:

Find a new build to rent

Renting a new build is often more worthwhile because you are paying for things like modern technology and smart devices. If you are renting a place to live, you at least get to rent somewhere that’s extremely innovative and ahead of the times. All of the appliances are brand new, so it’s much better than renting a flat with a washing machine or dishwasher that’s decades old.

If you’re going to rent, it makes sense to get more bang for your buck!

Ensure there are plenty of amenities

Speaking about getting more bang for your buck, it’s really useful if your new place comes with additional amenities. Again, modern developments are more likely to have these than older ones. Older apartments are sometimes big houses converted into multiple places to live. Newer apartments tend to be big blocks of flats in massive towers - like Meriton Apartments. As such, they are designed to have lots of additional features that make your life easier.

This can include a concierge to handle your mail and ensure you never miss a delivery. Or, a swimming pool and gym to help you get fit - possibly even a restaurant, cafe, or grocery store. Yes, having these amenities can make the rental price increase, but you are paying for added convenience. These things make your life better/easier, so at least your money is going towards something beneficial.

Opt for a furnished property

Furnished apartments come with all the furniture you need to live your life. As a result, you don’t need to spend money on sofas, dining tables, beds, or even wardrobes. Some will also come fully equipped with cutlery and other kitchen essentials. This makes renting an apartment more worth the money because you don’t have to fork out on all of these things. It’s a nice little bonus that you don’t get if you own the property.

The underlying theme is that you want your rent to give you as much as possible. If you rent an old apartment with outdated appliances, no amenities, and no furniture, it will never be worth the money. Yes, it might not be that expensive to rent, but you get literally no bang for your buck. You’re renting something that gives you nothing extra and might make your life less convenient.

Of course, owning a home is the ultimate goal. But, this isn’t always possible. If you have to rent, at least make it worth your while. The more features and benefits you get for your money, the better.
