COMBAT DRY LIPS THIS WINTER

If you’re reading this, you can probably relate to the fact that the winter weather sucks at bringing out the best of our skin. I’ve always personally found it to be such a struggle to maintain a good level of skincare practices throughout winter, let alone figuring out what it is that my skin actually needs.

You only have to scroll a short while through social media to find a new product being advertised, claiming to work wonders on your skin/ your hair/ your life or whatever. But the truth is, sometimes you have try a whole bunch of things before finding the ones that actually work for you. I've taken a new approach to choosing products during the pandemic, and I’ve now moved away from buying anything that just “looks interesting” to products that are evidenced to work for people in similar profiles to me! Still, I think part of me will always be a sucker for ‘high claim’ products and I always wait in anticipation to see if I get the same desired effects or whether the product works for me.

But what does that have to do with lip care struggles? You ask. Good question!

I can’t be the only person whose lips literally dry up like a prawn cracker when the cold weather hits? Like, how many times do I have to lick my lips to give them some moisture…only to end up making it worse and falling into a vicious cycle? This is the worst! Thankfully, I was introduced to one of the only products that has helped me with this problem, and I’ve been using it for months now!

Cue, The Skin Shops Liquorice lip Balm; ‘LipQ’ - the lifesaving, cruelty free lip balm that contains a highly concentrated extract of liquorice extract, and if used daily can help protect lips from cold sore outbreaks. The Glycyrrhizic Acid used in the balm has also been found in studies to help protect the skin again UV damage.

I’ve been using the LipQ balm for a good few months now, so I’m really familiar with it and can also vouch for all the amazing benefits of using it. What started as a way to combat the dryness of my lips has turned into a somewhat ‘lip care ritual’, with me now applying the balm on a daily basis. I think many of us can relate to the fact that the days of full faces of makeup while working from home has decreased, but the Liquorice balm is now a solid part of my natural skincare/ makeup daily routine and I don’t see that changing anytime soon, particularly in the remaining cold periods.

Needless to say, I am not convinced that we’ll be ditching the colder weather just yet, though I am hopeful. In the meantime, I am overjoyed to have found a product that works so well for me and I’ve recommended it to pretty much anyone who will listen. If you find yourself suffering with cold sores, dry lips or looking for a natural remedy to add some healthy moisture to your lips, I’d massively recommend trying out the LipQ balm for yourself, you only have to read pretty much every review to hear about how its helped many of us already!

Let me know how you get on if you try it! (But I already know it’s going to work miracles).
